Real Wedding @ Harvey’s Point

Lisa & Danny March 2nd 2018

How they met

Having worked in the same company for a while, Danny and Lisa got to know each other before they officially started dating. On their first anniversary Danny planned a romantic night away and with the ring safely tucked away in his pocket he planned to pop the question over dinner but with a packed restaurant, nerves took over and he waited until they were back in their room before getting down on one knee and asking Lisa to be his wife. After running away from him with the initial shock, Lisa said yes and they started planning their dream day together.

When asked what the hardest thing about wedding planning was, Lisa told us “To be honest, both of us are good savers, but I think there were certain parts of the planning journey where we sacrificed holidays/nights out with friends, and that got us feeling a little down, as we felt we were missing out on things. We both knew though that this would only last for a short time and that it would all be worth it on the end, and it was! We just made sure to have date nights when we could to ensure we were still connected with each other, and have our friends around to our house instead of going out. We managed to work around it rather than let it challenge us.”

Why did you choose Harvey’s Point?

Harvey’s Point is just a spectacular venue.  It may have been the 2nd or 3rd venue we went to check out, but as soon as we stepped through the door, we just looked at each other and said, ‘This is it’! We couldn’t possibly look anywhere else, as we knew nowhere could compare.

We liked the rich feel you get as soon as you step through the door and the warmth you feel from the staff. We loved everything; from the chandeliers to the wood paneling, turf fires, and then the modern twist throughout the wedding reception area.

The rooms are so luxurious and incredibly spacious with a double Jacuzzi bath! The hotel has beautiful views of the mountains and the lake which really sets an ambient scene.

We are big food lovers, so our favourite part of planning the wedding was the most important part, the food tasting to choose our menu. The food at Harvey’s Point was just scrumptious and we were treated like true royalty which gave us a snippet into how we’d be hosted on our wedding day.

Anything you wish you’d done differently?

Not everything went exactly to plan in terms of some minor details, and that was okay, we wouldn’t have changed a single thing about our special day. Those moments made the day how it was.

Favourite memory from the day?

It was just so special and beautiful to have everyone we loved all in the one room at one time for us, because we knew that would never happen again.

Anything funny happen on the day? I would say the dance moves we witnessed that night on the dance floor!

“The best part of the day for me was walking down the aisle to ‘From this moment’ by Shania Twain, to be greeted by such a loving smile from Danny at the end.”  – Lisa

Advice for other couples?

Just enjoy every second of the planning and of course your special day when it arrives. It goes by super-fast, which is a little sad. We wanted to stay in those moments forever.

Get/do whatever YOU want for your day whether that’s getting the expensive accessory or cake,  or if you want to keep things plain and sleek, then do it, the budget will always work out in the end! You only get one wedding day with your special other half.

“The staff at Harvey’s Point are nothing but welcoming as soon as you enter the vicinity, no task could be too big or small for them, and they really made us felt like we were looked after. The wedding team are Harvey’s Point are also something special, not once did they feel like they were pressuring us into something we didn’t want.”
