What is the best thing about being a Wedding and Events Coordinator at Harvey’s Point?

wedding and events coordinator harveys point wedding venue ireland donegal

I love meeting new people, especially couples planning their big day as it’s always an exciting time. I love hearing all their plans and seeing the results of all their hard work come to life on the big day. It’s so nice to see the sisters, cousins and friends of previous couples coming to Harvey’s Point for their wedding having enjoyed their family members wedding so much.

What is your best advice for newly engaged couples?

To try and enjoy it and not get too hung up on the planning. Make time for each other and to do things together where you don’t talk about the wedding so you can have a break from it all! Organise things in stages so that you don’t get too overwhelmed. Also, don’t let others take over or influence your decisions. It’s your day so have it the way you both want and don’t try to please others.

Who is your favourite famous bride?

Oh, there are lots! I really loved Eva Longoria, she was a stunning bride. Her dress was so simple and classic and really suited her. It didn’t hurt that her bestie is Victoria Beckham so she designed it for her!

What wedding trend are you loving at the moment?

Flowers everywhere! Flowers have always been a big part of our weddings but recently we have seen couples make these a real focal point with stunning bouquets and matching centre piece arrangements. I also love all the flower walls – the bigger the better!

Any tips to keep calm if something goes wrong on the day?

Relax! I know that is easier said than done but honestly you will regret it if you let yourself get too wound up. At the end of the day all that matters is that you marry your soul mate and if there are a few little hiccups on the day then that won’t change that! Make sure you have people around you to rely on to sort out any little issues. Your venue coordinator is always on hand to help so don’t be afraid to ask.

What is your favourite part of the wedding day?

The arrivals reception! When the couple arrive at the hotel we are always at the door to greet and congratulate them. The guests have already arrived and the drinks reception is in full swing and everyone is delighted when the newlyweds arrive, I just love how happy everyone is at a wedding!

Planning your wedding in donegal from abroad

What are the most important factors to consider when booking your wedding venue?

The location, The food and The Staff! Consider the location and ambiance of the venue – does it reflect your wedding style? The food is such an important element and something that your guests will talk about – good or bad so it’s important to make sure your venue cater for all your guests and that they have a good reputation for their food.

The staff refers mostly to the venue coordinator, it’s important that you like them and can talk to them as you will be dealing with them quite closely in the lead up to your wedding. You want to feel like they are invested in your wedding and genuinely want to help you plan the best day ever!

What trends can you see coming through for 2019 weddings?

We are seeing a growing trend in couples wanting to have an alternative wedding ceremony. We are lucky that we can give the option of a gorgeous outdoor ceremony on the pier and couples love this idea, it’s like having the feeling of a wedding abroad but it’s right here in Donegal! With this type of ceremony couples get to put their own stamp on it and it can be more personal to them. With the Irish weather being a little predictable we also have the option of having your ceremony in our beautiful bright Garden Suite.

Couldn’t have dreamed for a better day

Choosing where to host our big day wasn't a difficult decision. In fact, it was quite the opposite. Harvey's Point had an established reputation for delivering an excellent service with high quality food and drink. Not forgetting the stunning surroundings and friendly staff members.
