Twilight Wedding Showcase at Harvey’s Point by Carina from

If you haven’t spent an evening at the stunning Harvey’s Point Hotel, then you are really missing out! I have a soft spot for Harvey’s as we got engaged here almost 13 years ago and it holds fond memories for me. Also, recently I have had the pleasure of working with Harvey’s Point to help them tell their Wedding Story and it is genuinely one of my favourite venues,  so when the opportunity of hosting a table at their Twilight Wedding showcase came around, I of course jumped at the chance!

I have been to hundreds of wedding fairs and showcases but this one was very different to the norm and was such a refreshing change. Designed to let couples experience the magic of what a wedding at Harvey’s Point would be like, couples where invited to register in advance via the website.

On arrival at the private entrance to the Wedding Suite each couple was shown into the new Garden Suite and treated to Prosecco and a gorgeous selection of soup shots and canapes. While everyone mingled and had the opportunity to have a look around and speak with the team at Harvey’s Point, the fabulously talented Zara Montgomery entertained in the background. I love this new suite, its bright and spacious and would be perfect for a drinks reception as its totally private for you and your guests.  This room also serves really well for indoor ceremonies although if the weather is on your side a wedding on the pier is simply amazing!

Our MC for the evening was the wonderful Noel Cunningham who is General Manager at the hotel and is the perfect host for an event like this. We heard some really useful advice and tips from Jillian Canney of Civil Celebrations who explained the options in terms of different types of ceremony and how you can make your ceremony personal to you. Following this we heard from the lovely Monica Blain of Simply Divine Weddings who talked about how the right décor can make a huge impact on any room. The Garden Suite and Ballroom Suite looked completely amazing decorated by the Simply Divine Weddings team.

From here, everyone was then invited to take their assigned seats in the gorgeous Ballroom Suite that has the most amazing views of Lough Eske. This was my favourite part of the evening – when we walked into the room we were surprised by two wonderful dancers dancing to Red Alert playing Ed Sheerans ‘Perfect’,  it was a real goose bumps moment and very romantic.

The Ballroom Suite at Harvey’s Point is simply stunning and you feel like you are somewhere very special. You can see the beautiful Lough Eske from every window and the glittering chandeliers add to the ambiance. The added touches of a Flower wall, draping and a sparkle dance floor from Simply Divine only added to this gorgeous suite.

Each table had a host and I was delighted to be hosting some local bloggers and press and to have the opportunity to hear what they thought about the hotel while we ate a fabulous meal. If you have heard of Harvey’s Point then you will have heard about the famous Buffet that they offer for Weddings – this is Harvey’s Points secret weapon! Aside from the stunning surroundings, one of the main attractions of Harvey’s Point has always been is food. Head Chef Chris McMenamin and his team were on hand to talk us through the extensive Wedding Menu. Starters are my favourite thing and I was blown away by the choices available (Selection of salads, cold meat platters, BBQ Ribs, Vol au vents, Sea food platters, Garlic bread …… you get the picture!).

Once we finished our starters, the super talented Paul McGinty from Ghorm Studios spoke to us about the amazing backdrop of Harvey’s Point and the surrounding area for wedding photos. Paul is a local photographer and his work is fabulous, he presented a slide show of amazing images of real weddings and it was clear to see how much he loves his job.

While Paul spoke we were momentarily distracted by the tantalising platters of Main Course options arriving at our tables accompanied by the creamiest potatoes I have ever tasted and the best carrots in the world according to Matt Britton! Did I mention this was a wedding showcase?! We couldn’t believe the generosity of the hotel and the food was simply delicious.

The icing on the cake came a little later when each table was invited back to the buffet area but this time we were greeted by the most beautiful sight I have ever seen – a dessert buffet with every type of dessert imaginable! As if this wasn’t enough there was also a chocolate fountain and Chef Carl making fresh crepes to order! Now for me as a wedding guest, this would blow me away! This is why Harvey’s Point is so well known for its Buffets, nowhere else gives this as an option for Weddings and it’s something that wedding guests love!

We finished off a wonderful evening with a tour of the hotel and everyone had the opportunity to speak with the Wedding Team and the select suppliers who took part in the evening. My attention was drawn to the fab cakes displayed by Lough Erne Cakes who had 3 beautiful cakes and the yummiest treats to taste.  We also got to meet Gerard McGirr Wedding Services and Enda from The Flower Shop Stranorlar. All in all it was a really lovely evening and if this is the amount of effort put in for a showcase, you can imagine the level of care and detail that the Harvey’s Point team put into a real wedding.

Thanks for Matt Britton for the fabulous photos and also to bloggers Passion by Natasha, Donna Blaker and Official Jude Mitchell for coming along and enjoying the evening with me.

A huge thank you to Noel Cunningham and the team and Harvey’s Point for a wonderful event and the very thoughtful goodie bag and to our dancers for the evening Vesna & Mark from Sho-Case Events.
